Recently, the Ministry of Finances of Ukraine has presented a new portal called Edata, which contains information about Ukrainian budget expenses. At the moment the Edata website is in the test mode, but payment transactions performed by the State Treasury Service of Ukraine can already be viewed. The rest of budget data will become universally accessible in upcoming months.
The purpose of Edata portal is to promote transparency and give everyone an opportunity to monitor how Ukrainian budget funds are spent. The portal will raise awareness and significantly contribute to elimination of Ukrainian corruption. The portal is comprised of two major blocks – “The use of budget funds” and “Transparent budget.” The first block deals with the Treasury budget funds reports and the second one – with the data on transparency of performed procedures. Moreover, there will be tools to analyze and monitor Ukrainian budget expenses. The next step in portal development will be adding of information on local budgets, the Pension fund and social security expenses. Afterwards, in January 2016, Edata will include information on the expenses of public utility enterprises and governmental institutions.
