Ukraine-China Trade Relations – A New Step to Improvement

Opening of the Chinese Commerce Association on the territory of Ukraine creates new ways to encourage and improve Ukraine-China trade relations. The goal and purpose of the Commerce Association is successful promotion of the import-export relations between two countries. At the present moment, Ukraine is already among the major trading partners of China with roughly 8 percent of the export volume going to the Asian partner.

Hennadiy Zubko, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, is absolutely confident that the Chinese Commerce Association will provide Ukraine with more investment opportunities and significantly contribute to Ukraine-China cooperation. Another essential topic mentioned during the opening was the Silk Road initiative put forward by the Chinese President Xi Jinping. The steps envisaged by the proposed initiative include connection of China to Europe by the means of free trade zones expansion and improvement of the infrastructure.

Moreover, a partnership agreement between Commerce Association and Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce has been signed during the opening. The initial step to support the partnership will be holding of the forum concerning Silk Road in September of 2015.
